Mokie Joe -
I do not know where to begin. I will take the path of least resistance. I am sure that you will think that as a farce after reading what I have to say.
First off, I would like to “clear the air” so to speak.
You do not know me. You do not read my essays. You have no concept of me, beyond my responses to your pieces of significant political interpretation. You do not know what I think, who I am, what I do, or what I believe. You do know, quite intimately, my reactions to your statements and claims as well as your opinions, that I respect. I do respect where you come from and the endless flame of your passion as well as your censoring comrade’s ability to "sharpie black line" what and who disagrees with him. So be it if that is his world of playing “boss”, but I respect you, I honestly do , when the line is ON the line and you allow opposing view points to be heard on your comment thread. I know your “buddy” thinks me a mere “mosquito” but he is sorely mistaken, no pun intended. I know you do not want to hear from me. You wish I would stop coming by except for the counter at the lower right that helps you get from coffee to warm milk. I have done my research, I know who you are, I REALLY know who you "REALLY" are! You rather send sycophants to my essays to post what you refuse to express beyond your forum. Why can't you come and defend yourself and call me names to my face on my thread - why send people for you? No time? I accept that. I am NOT here to convince you, make you look bad, make you feel bad, hurt you, or make you feel any better than you do when the sleep is washed from your eyes.
I do find it quite humorous that we both found disgust this week in Time Magazine and it’s dribbling vernacular of varicose fluidity.
You took the rag as being much more conservative than it’s previous liberal bindings.
I found it disgustingly more liberal than it has ever been.
Although you do not believe me, I have subscribed to that rag since ‘97 and read each issue cover to cover, including the letters to the editor. You are right in one regard, I have not seen a letter from you published within it’s pages.
I was going to call in a refund of my three year pre paid subscription to it’s foul papyrus pages of pontification. But the obituaries and the political cartoons made me quell my fury. I will still get copies. You would know this if you took time out of your falsely proclaimed “journalism” career to take a gander at my essays. But alas, there is no time in your schedule to focus on a differing opinion unless it can revive the career you can’t hold on top, due to “differences” - to put it nicely.
Onto your “facts” - which you cleverly offer no citing of or reference to … regardless of what your cult followers believe …
Like sands through your hourglass (or was it Cheney’s ?) so are the sands of Iraq …
Such a shame you will probably revert to new debates or name calling rather than address what I have to say in response to your raving but it is the chance I take …
First off you start with the ultra-fab Dixie Chicks that you self proclaim that you do not listen to. I would like to tell you that up until this recent Rick Rubin produced wax of musical adoration, their music was written by others. My 15 year old sister, who is a music star, acquired their song writer’s talents for her first album at fourteen. The albums that the Dixie Chicks were promoting during their justified rants against Bush were while promoting rip off music meant for the sole meaning of making money and success and not creative expression or individuality.
Making money is the consistant theme of all your pieces, well, beyond being an anti semite!
I begin to have flaw with what you say starting in paragraph two. Keep in mind I always want you to write and express but I would like you to offer me the comparable respect …
This last issue engulfed liberalism and made it dance upon marble floors of sparkled light. Greek discos my friend, Greek discos.
They asked to be interviewed. It was in the entertainment section of the magazine. I know it got the cover but it was entertainment none the less. A six page layout in the “Music” section is far from politics. How sad you think it to be "news".
The title of the piece being is NOT “Natalie Maines is one of those people born middle finger first”, it is “In the Line Of Fire”. The first sentences are references to her proud defiance and ability to stand strong against what she is opposed to while maintaining a career in the music industry. Did you miss that, or just skim it like you do my comments looking for what you want to hate? As a matter of fact the Dixie Chicks opted to do the interview with Time beyond other talk shows and magazines because they wanted to reinforce their view points and PROMOTE THEIR NEW ALBUM. The story was under ”Music” not “NEWS”!
Ok … You have issues with Joe Klein … well, so do I . You say he has turned sooooooo conservative. Is there PCP in your coffee in the morning? I am sure you will jump on that, but I am going to leave it in. I think his semi-conservative views are disgustingly turned liberal in the last issue or two. I made a piont to crucify him in my last post. By the way: good job misleading your readers by NOT continuing the rest of the headline to Joe’s piece. You must hope all of the ignorant follow you around like the pied piper! I am not a rat and most of us are not. The whole headline expressed how Joe hates the GOP’s standing on ILLEGAL immigration. He also continued the article exclaiming how men like I are no better of than those who forced African Americans to sit in the back of the bus while burning churches. Are you for real saying this is conservative rhetoric? Come on, you know better than that if your “journalism” career is true!
By the way you took all three of those Time covers out of context. Ms. Right was a play on word regarding her political shift and her insistence on being correct. They repeatedly made sure that Ann Coulter was known as an extreme satirist looking to start political conversation and debate. Did you count how may white wine and Nicorette mentions were made in the piece? The Bush cover was done while he was making a positive difference after 9-11. By the way the “Man of the Year” cover, these days, means about as much as the Nobel Prize … NOTHING! As far as Clinton goes … I think him to be a GREAT President who is over amplified for a party lacking a 24 year span bereft of a success after the “triumphs” of Kennedy and Johnson. His picture and headline on the cover was justified considering the hesitation and snide darting regarding the situation, not the situation itself. You took these covers completely out of context without elaboration in order to justify your points falsely. What were you thinking?
If so many people were applauding the Dixie Chicks stance, then why according to your admission and “inside scoop” were DJ’s getting singular calls at 3 a.m. regarding there disgust? Don’t you see some isolation and contradiction within your own words? Am I out of line? Maybe. But I am calling it as I see it.
Radio is a business NOT a charity. They are in it to make money and to do so need advertisers. The advertisers pledge money forward based on a listening audience that is based on listening preference not menticide. Did they teach that at the 7,000 watts of force in West Lafayette that you were at? Radio is not a consumer or civil right. It is a citizen right to have C.B. and Ham Radio - C.B. = Citizen Band; not consumer AM or FM radio which makes money off of product sales. You were not a journalist you were an accessory to radio commercial sales. Get that straight!
You claim the Dixie Chicks statements only pissed off “one person”. That is just simply put, WRONG! Do you talk to anyone in Nashville or have you left Indiana climbing over Simon’s wall to meet the chalk people in NYC to have make believe time? There is far more than “ONE” person pissed of at the Dixie Chicks comments. Maybe you have just been living in Osama Bin Laden’s cave and missed out on the news. If you turn him in now I will forgive you!
Even your OWN statements back this up. You claim that after frantic and frenetic chases after the “real” answers as to why the Dixie Chicks have been banned from your homely little station that the answer was one voice of upset at 3 a.m. Are you really going to base one graveyard shift/tweeker voice as your defense regarding the repulsion of America in order to make you feel better about how you feel?
Come on! You post a lot of pretty pictures and say a lot of fancy stuff. Contrary to your comments, you DO NOT cite any references or sources. I can do that too! But because I am a moderate libertarian calling himself a Republican then it is a scam, a farce, or a cover up , huh? Where are the sheep and kettles and pots? They are all black as I see it from here!
You claim slander and refer only to me in slanderous ways. Should I get bummed out about you making fun of me and not addressing any of my points in order to be the Svengali that you are? Please lets not throw slander around as it is nothing more than strong black coffee when it comes to politics.
As many stones I throw now - you throw harder stones that wind up being made of foam but when they hit me, it is still feelings they hurt, my friend. Learn who I am and maybe I will understand who you are thus allowing me to relate a bit easier with cubes of sugar, like as horse that needs to ride the track.
You mislead your readers and allow them the false faith of profundidty and prosecution. Someone needs to tell them you are telling falsehoods. You are decieveing people with the same flared twist that you shun and scorn.
BEWARE!
I could go on … I know you won’t read … You’ll just get pissed and probably now block me like your pal does.
I am just a friggin’ mosquito!
Just to refresh you in regards to the Time Magazine that you don’t read:
They have published on and on about Katrina, Iraq, Abrahmof, Cheney, Global Warming (I find it funny you found it convenient to punish me for supposedly not having read it - although I had) and so on and so on … They publish expansive sympathy stories regarding these subjects over and over again and dedicate at least 6 pages to each. Review your last twelve months of copies. Wait ... what's that? You don't have them? You only have on line? I have them all in hard copy sitting right next to me. Come over, have coffee, and we can have story time.
In the same issue that you use to cite your disgust at conservatism, they talk about how great pop culture hatred towards politics is , they call “Moonbeam” Brown a perpetrator of a police state, how intense the hurricanes will be due to man’s hand and how we need to protect all, the rebuilding of New Orleans, how Ramadi is the MOST dangerous city in the WHOLE wide world (what about Bogotá, any city in Darfur or Indonesia) … or were you too preoccupied by the alligator story or the “Cool Tools for the Third World” story? Maybe you were only pissed off at AOL?
Maybe you missed the page fourteen advertisement from “MyRichUncle”.com where your college education can be found underneath the moniker of a man wearing a bowler donning the communist “Red Star”?
I know you were really hung up on Franklin Foer’s “viewpoint” on World Cup Soccer on page 43. “Homage To Catalonia”, it is more your speed.
So I don’t read it, huh?
You just don’t read me.
Censor me like the fabulous Whit.
He likes you enough to continue non egregious exchange
I know, now you have an excuse to shun me. To call me a bastard.
If you read what I have to say beyond your comments and made a point not to piss me off with your side step debates that do not address the points that you make and how I rebuke them, then it would be cool.
I like you and feel a connection. I want to talk to you. But your hate and generalizations prevent that from ever happening in your mind
Be kind.
Hurt me.
